Are Soy & Seed Natural Candles vegan friendly?
Yep! Our products are not tested on animals, and are vegan. They are also free from heavy metals, paraffin, and artificial colouring!
How long will a Soy & Seed Natural Candle burn for?
In ideal conditions, candles burn for over 60 hours.
Please note that we aim to ensure all of our candles are as long lasting as possible however burn times do vary based on a variety of factors. These include candle maintenance (whether wicks are being properly trimmed and are centred), the length of each continuous burn time (a longer burn that results in a deeper melted wax pool has the tendency to evaporate faster), candle placement (air-conditioned and drafty areas may effect burn times) and the age of the candle. To get the most out of your candles we always advise that you follow the burning instructions located at the bottom of the candle jar.
Do I need to trim my candle wicks?
Yes. As the wax level drops, the wicks effectively become longer so we advise that you trim the wicks to 6mm and ensure they're upright prior to each new burn.
I've finished burning my candle, how I prepare the jar for my seedlings?
When you have finished with your candle, place the jar in a pot of hot water. Let the jar sit in the pot until the left over wax has softened. The warmth should release the wax and made it easy to pull out. Discard the wax in the bin.
Once the wax is removed, gently clean the jar with soap and warm water. Allow to dry.
How do I plant my seeded paper and grow my seedlings?
When you have cleaned your candle jar, you can now give it an afterlife as a pot for native Australian flowers!
Fill you jar 3/4 of the way with nutrient rich soil. Before planting the seeded card, slightly wet the card to give moisture to the seeds before planting.
Lay the card flat on the soil, so the seeds can grow upwards easily, or rip up. Cover with a thin layer of soil.
Make sure your seedlings get lots of sunlight! Water 2 -3 times a week during the germination period. You should see sprouts in 2 - 4 weeks.
Swan River Daisies are native to Australia and are pretty adaptable and low maintenance. The flowers are a beautiful purple and blue colour. Ensure your flowers are kept in a sunny spot, and continue to water 1 -2 times a week. When established, they may need to be moved from your jar to the garden or a larger pot.
Can I send an eco candle anywhere in Australia?
Western Australia and Tasmania have quarantine regulations which control the entry of seeds (and other potential bio-security hazards). WA and TAS are subject to conforming to WA and Tas documentation requirements and being appropriate seeds.
Before sending or ordering our eco candles to either WA or TAS, we recommend you check with your local biosecurity laws and let quarantine know. There might be additional inspection charges for WA.
Our cards only contain the Brachyscome iberidifolia (Swan River Daisy), which is orginally native to WA.
Soy & Seed Natural Candles are accompanied by a seeded card. If you are unsure whether our product complies with your local biosecurity laws, please request that we post your order without the seeded card by leaving us a note at checkout.
Overseas and Biosecurity
When sending your eco candles internationally you must always check the region's bio security laws and let quarantine know. Many countries have documentation requirements for any plant matter such as seeds. Soy & Seed Natural Candles are accompanied by a seeded card. If you are unsure whether our product complies with your local biosecurity laws, please request that we post your order without the seeded card by leaving us a note at checkout.
